Former West Orange Student is Defensive Player of the Week at Felician College
Former West Orange High School student Ashley Morris was named Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
Felician College junior Ashley Morris of West Orange has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 8, the CACC announced on Monday.
Morris has started all 10 games for the Golden Falcons this season. She is averaging 10.2 points, and leads the team with 8.5 rebounds (T-8th in the CACC) and 1.2 blocks (6th) per contest. She is riding a streak of three consecutive double-doubles. Morris is a 2010 graduate of West Orange High, and took a medical "redshirt" season in 2011-12.
Morris is the second Felician women's basketball player to capture the CACC Defensive Player of the Week Award this season. Teammate Que Lyles (Bronx, N.Y./Banana Kelly) was also honored on Nov. 18. The award is in its debut season.
