JCC MetroWest Features Author Rosalie Greenberg in Annual Molly Burack Lecture
Secrets in the Suitcase: Stories My Mother Never Told Me

JCC MetroWest will host author Rosalie Greenberg, M.D. on Thursday, October 17, 12:30pm, at the Leon & Toby Cooperman JCC in a discussion of her book Secrets in the Suitcase: Stories My Mother Never Told Me.  Rosalie’s mother Molly Greenberg was born in a shtetl in Poland in 1924.  Her world was shattered on September 17, 1939, when the Soviet army seized control of Skala Podolska. She never spoke about those painful early years until she joined a senior writing class at the JCC.  Featured in the Annual Molly Burack Lecture at the JCC, the book is about her life in her own words.

Mrs. Burack, a long-time resident of Maplewood, was the beloved volunteer creative writing teacher at the JCC for over 30 years prior to retiring in Florida. The lecture is presented in her honor through the generosity of her children.  Molly Greenberg faced her past with the encouragement of Mrs. Burack.  Years later, after her mother had passed away, her daughter, Dr. Rosalie Greenberg, found her stories about the Holocaust in a long forgotten suitcase, hence the title, Secrets in the Suitcase.  Dr. Greenberg will discuss the book she wrote about her mother’s life, based on these stories of survival.
