West Orange Comes Out For Annual Picnic

Hundreds of residents turned out for this yearly township event.

What a day in West Orange.

Sunday was the annual township picnic at the West Orange High School. The day featured fun, food, games, music, face-painting and friends.

Here are some of the sights that were seen at the yearly event. If you took some pictures of your own, feel free to upload them to the photo gallery!

This was a nice event. I would just suggest altering the location a bit next year. I was one of the parents that had a child in a stroller, and it was impossible to get through on the sidewalk. Way too narrow and difficult trying to maneuver around people.

That's a short article. Here is some more meat: The annual Town Picnic, arranged by the WO Public Relations Commission (PRC) was held on Sunday. With the weather turning out to be great the annual picnic was a great success. The reason behind the picnic is for the WO residents to be able to meet the organizations in town and township departments and commissions. This year the picnic was held at the Conforti Field by the High School. The prior rain made the original plans on having it on the actual field impossible so the commission improvised and had in on one of the paths on the side of the High School. Residents could walk around and look at information from about 40 different organizations such as the Cub and Girl Scouts, the Health department, Adopt One Village just to mention a few. The organizations and township departments connected with the residents on a personal level and could inform them on who they are. The PRC had arranged for pizzas, hot dogs and the popular ice cream to be given out to the visitors for free. A DJ played music and engaged the younger visitors, the line to the face painting was long so a good amount of children played tennis and other fun games at the field. With over 300 visitors the picnic was a great success - as usual and the residents left with knowledge, full stomachs and a whole lot of freebees. Some residents even left with prizes from the raffle such as a 1 night at the Wilshire Hotel. A great WO day!

Congrats on a great township event. I just wish the Patch had covered it more thoroughly. You filled in nicely.

Lisa, I know. I am not sure why it feels like crime and how bad this and that is, is the only thing you read on the patch now a days. I miss the articles about the schools, and all the GREAT things (like the picnic) that we are use to seeing here.
