Essex Special Skaters Learn to Skate

Codey Arena hosts special skating practice this past weekend.

Special skaters and instructors populated the ice this past Sunday afternoon at Codey Arena in West Orange.

Essex Special Skaters is a free volunteer program which helps developmentally delayed athletes of all ages master the sport of ice skating.

Many of the skaters compete in the Special Olympics Winter Games figure and speed skating events. 

Skate rentals, ice time and volunteer instuction are free of charge. There is a registration fee of $10 per year.
