Community House Celebrates 100 Years of Service at Third Annual Awards Dinner

Hundreds gathered Thursday night at the centennial anniversary of the West Orange Community House. The third annual Community Awards Dinner at Mayfair Farms honored former councilman Renard E. Barnes, chief financial officer for the township Edward J. Coleman, educator Elizabeth Maddalena, and businessman Frank Rubinetti.

Maddalena who passed away in March, was honored posthumously and a tribute was given in her memory by Superintendent of Schools Anothony Cavanna, Dawn Ribeiro and Connie Salimbeno.  Maddalena served as the district director of student support services and was awarded as "Educator of the Year."

Warren Fuller, recent addition to the West Orange Community House's board of directors, acted as the Master of the Ceremony during the event. The night also included two special performances by Miya Asobo, 10, a vocalist and member of West Orange Boys & Girls Club, and 25 boys and girls from the West Orange Boys & Girls Club Step Team.
