On June 21, 2012 Governor’s Banner for the Rotary District 7470 was transferred
from Madison Rotary president Carmella Moeller to Denville Rotary president Joe
Paci. Rotary District 7470 encompasses the counties of Essex, Morris, Sussex
and Warren. The district has 1,300 Rotarians in 54 clubs spread throughout the
4 counties. The event was held at Mayfair Farms in West Orange.
After an hour of socialization MC George Hrobuchak, welcomed
everyone, Patricia Agliata, gave the invocation, and Courtney Meola, a junior
at Morris Knolls High School led the group in singing the Star Spangled Banner.
Three clubs in district 7470 were recognized for international
awards this year. The Rotary Club of Irvington received the Change-Maker Award
for outstanding small club. The Rotary Clubs in Bloomfield and Cedar Grove each received the prestigious Rotary International Presidential Citation.
Incoming Governor Avi Tilak of Denville congratulated outgoing governor
Jim Allison of Madison for his accomplishments during 2011-12; and thanked Jim for his tireless service to Rotary.
Tilak then introduced his theme for the next year “Service Without
Boundaries.” He shared his vision to serve people across the world regardless
of race, religion, nationality or any other boundary that separates a human
from fellow humans.
To close, Courtney Meola took the stage again to perform a lovely
rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
