Visions For Vacancies: What Should Move to 641 Eagle Rock Ave.?

The West Orange Patch asks: What do you think should be placed at the former Sweet Basil's Cafe?

Here is another installment of Visions for Vacancies!

Let's call this a modern spin on community planning -- Patch's version of a charette, a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

In an occasional column, we present a new vacant space and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules, and all the other zoning jargon that puts most people to sleep. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

This week, we are asking: What kind of business would you like to see move into 641 Eagle Rock Ave, the former home of Sweet Basil's Cafe?

The building has been vacant since the middle of July. Sweet Basil's Cafe & Grill has since set up a new location at 498 South Livingston Ave., Livingston.

The building is situated at the well traveled intersection of Eagle Rock Avenue and Pleasant Valley Way. There is plenty of parking (free!) available, and the space inside is about the size of a small restaurant.

So what do you think should go there? A frozen yogurt store? A coffeehouse? A nail salon?
