Clothing companies, home furnishing lines, and even hotel chains all have been trying to cash in on the success of the novel Fifty Shades of Grey that has become the best-selling British book of all time. In the United States alone, the book topped 20 million in sales in July.
To take advantage of the book's popularity, the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle peddles the "50 Shades of Romance" package that includes wine, a car demo, and a map to the Seattle destinations mentioned in Fifty Shades. Sex toy shops report a huge jump in business. Hardware stores cite a rise in rope sales.
According to NBC News, hotels such as the Damson Dene Hotel in England have even started replacing the Bible with the steamy book, part of a trilogy by E.L. James.
Now Montclair's Bobbi Brown is hoping to do the same. She's come out with a new line of "come-hither" shades designed to unleash the inner goddess in every woman. The promotional material asks: "When Did Grey Get So Naughty?"
According to a press release: "Inspired by the recent obsession with all things Grey, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics introduces a limited-edition collection of our best grey shades, hand-picked by Bobbi herself.
"Featuring four Eye Shadows, a Long-Wear Cream Shadow and a Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, this sultry collection has everything a woman desires to achieve a sexy yet polished look. And with every purchase of Bobbi’s grey collection, you’ll receive a sample of Bobbi’s new fragrance Bed…"
