The Weekender: Holiday Lights, Turkey Trot, Wreath Sale

Holiday Light Spectacular is free this year!

Turtle Back Zoo, West Orange
WHEN:     Friday, Saturday, Sunday
WHY GO: 
Experience Turtle Back Zoo in the winter as 100,000 bulbs and 40 lit displays illuminate the zoo this holiday season!
COST:   Free.   Turtle Back Zoo will be collecting non-perishable food, winter coats and unwrapped new toys for the needy each evening of holiday lights.

WHAT: 
WHERE:  Thomas Edison National Historical Park, West Orange
WHEN:   Friday, Saturday, Sunday   10am – 4pm
WHAT:   Glenmont will be decorated much as it was while the Edison family lived there. Favorite musical pieces will be playing and greenery and red poinsettias will deck the mantles above the fireplaces. Staircases will be ringed with boughs and red ribbon bows and wreaths will hang in every window. In the Den, the majestic 10 foot tree will be lit and the presents underneath.
COST:   Admission is $7.00, and includes the Glenmont Estate and the Laboratory Complex. Children under age 16 are free.

WHERE:  Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church, 471 Pleasant Valley Way
WHEN:   Friday    10am - 5pm
WHY GO:  Help our Boy Scouts earn their way for camping, canoeing adventures!   Come buy a beautifully decorated Christmas wreath or popcorn treats on Friday Nov 25 in the Pleasantdale Church lot.

WHERE: Essex County Environmental Center, Roseland
WHEN:  Friday
WHY GO:   Sit around the camp fire and roast marshmallows and enjoy popcorn and cider. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
COST:   Cost is $6 per child and $8 per adult. Advance registration is required. Call 973-228-8776.

WHERE:  Verona Park, Bloomfield Ave & Lakeside Ave, Verona
WHEN:     Saturday  8:30am
WHY GO:  All proceeds for this event will go towards Team Zoey, an organization created in honor of Zoey Aster Penny, who was diagnosed with Progeria at birth. This degenerative disease prematurely ages young children, leaving them with a life expectancy of about 13 years of age.  Registration starts at 8:30am.  Run start time: 10am.  Walk start time: 1010am

WHEN:    Sunday 3pm
WHY GO: Christmas Concert including a Flute Play-Along.  Bring your flute and a music stand for the Finale Play-Along!
COST:  A free-will offering will be collected to support The Interfaith Hospitality   

WHAT:  White Christmas
WHERE:  Paper Mill Playhouse, Millburn, NJ

WHY GO:  Based on the beloved Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye film, this merry musical tells the tale of two famous song-and-dance men who stage a show in a scenic, snow-topped Vermont inn — and end up finding love with two singing sisters under the mistletoe.
COST:   $25 to $80

The Pleasantdale Elementary Schools Kindergarten classes’ play “Thanksgiving Story” will show on Comcast 36/Verizon 45.  Airing dates are November 25th at 5PM & 6:30PM, and November 26th at 10:30AM & 7:30PM.   Enjoy the show!  And GREAT JOB to the kindergarten classes and their wonderful teachers!!
