Smackwater Jack Makes Pour House Debut Saturday Night

High-energy Succasunna cover band plays the Pour House Pub and Grub Saturday night.

Come Saturday night, West Orange's Pour House Pub and Grub will rock with the sounds of Smackwater Jack.

The Succasunna-based band will perform at the 9-month-old sports pub, which presents live music events as well as karaoke, billiards and more.

The group has been together for several years, according to singer-guitarist Jason Tremper, who told Patch that its goal is to “play on a consistent basis and ... keep it fun."

Smackwater Jack doesn't want to sound like other bands, according to lead guitarist Eric Benson.

“We play hard rockin' classic hits, as well as all the newest and freshest songs that most of the other bands don't play," he said. "We keep things fun by constantly adding new songs to our repertoire so that you never hear the same set list twice."

Adding to the fun at the band's Pour House gig will be a celebration of Jack bassist Gerald Vitale's July 13 birthday.

Smackwater Jack steadily plays venues in North Jersey and beyond, but Saturday's performance will be its last for a while, as the members plan to take a vacation afterward before coming back with more new classic rock covers in the fall.
