Pet of the Week: Bojangles

Hey everyone! My name is Bojangles, it's very nice to meet you. I’m a mixed breed dog weighing around 60 lbs. People always tell me I have the most gorgeous brown eyes. While I like the compliment, I love the attention and affection they give even more!

If you like a dog who is active and fun, but who quickly calms down I’m the one for you. The nice volunteers took me out for a walk recently and I was super excited to go. However, after about 10 minutes of walking and having a jubilant time I decided to sit down in the shade! When the people said, “let’s go” I walked like a show dog!

I’m also really comfortable being handled. After all, it feels really nice to be petted and hugged!
I know “sit” and am food motivated. As a result, I should be super-easy to train since you can win me over with tasty treats!

I had a blast recently walking with two female dogs. One female dog was really gentle and mellow and we had such a good time walking together, sniffing each other up, and playing! The other female dog was also fun, but more assertive. I even let her hump me without any protest! The volunteers told me that shows I’m really good with other dogs. If you have another dog, please bring them down so we can make sure we hit it off!

I passed my food test with flying colors. The humans moved my food and touched me while I ate and it did not bother me one bit!

I absolutely love rawhide bones! However, I let people take my prized rawhide bone right from my mouth – after a playful game of tug of war first! Why don't you come by the shelter to meet me? We could cuddle or play, or just hang out!

Bojangles is available at the Jersey Animal Coalition Shelter located at 298 Walton Ave. in South Orange. Their hours are as follows:

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: Noon - 7pm
Wednesday: Noon - 6pm
Thursday: Noon - 7pm
Friday: Noon - 6pm
Saturday and Sunday: Noon - 5pm
