Film Shortlisted for the Oscars to Premiere at Luna State Tonight

'Battle for Brooklyn' will show for the first time in New Jersey

A documentary film that chronicles the life of an activist fighting to save his home and community from being demolished, will premiere in New Jersey at the  tonight. 

"Battle for Brooklyn," by filmmakers Michael Galinsky and Suki Hawley is shortlisted for the Oscars and may be nominated for Best Documentary. 

The documentary was shot over the course of eight years as hundreds of Brooklyn residents in the Prospect Heights community gathered to fight the threat of wrecking balls, bulldozers and the ambitious plans of a real estate developer.

The film will screen tonight at 7:30 p.m. and feature one of the filmmakers and one of the activists for a question and answer session following the film. 

A $10 fee is suggested to support Luna and the filmmakers. Free popcorn will be provided. Luna Stage is located at 555 Valley Road in West Orange, N.J.
