Close to $100K Raised in West Orange Mayor's 5K

There were more than 800 participants in the 5K while one team Evco Mechanical, a local business, raised more than $2,000.

The West Orange Mayor's 5K has raised close to $100,000 this past weekend to break the silence on Ovarian Cancer.

The Downtown Alliance is still accepting donations payable to DWOA and mail them to us at WO Town Hall 66 Main Street.  Proceeds will be divided among the Maureen Fund, Nat’l Ovarian Cancer Coalition, Downtown Alliance and The Mayors Sunshine fund.

John Doyle edged out Evan Mills for the West Orange top Male runners by 12.5 seconds.  Betty Otarola took the top female spot. Full results here.

"This was my first year running the Mayors 5K and we had so many volunteers and groups that helped make it a successful event downtown,  said the President of Downtown Alliance Megan Brill.

A downtown business Evco Mechanical raised more than $2,000 this year. The business has been a participant in the race over the last few years.

Brill added, "Special thanks go out to the DOW Alliance board, Barbara Geiger [Director for NOCC –Nat’l Ovarian Cancer  Coalition] and SharBeth Susskind local resident and survivor.  We also thank the many employees of the township that volunteered and worked that day- you are truly what makes WO a great place to live."
