Arts Gala Honors Santola, Cohen

The 8th Annual Celebration of the Arts Gala will honor two longtime community leaders.

The Arts Council of Livingston will be holding their 8th Annual Celebration of the Arts Gala this week, and this year’s honorees will be two very familiar faces.

Being held on October 25, from 5-9 p.m. at the Cedar Hill Country Club, the council will be honoring Mayor Stephen Santola and former mayor, Ellie Cohen, for their work in championing the arts, said Arts Council President Martha Ackermann.

“The evening has a winning combination of great food, in a terrific location,  surrounded by a beautiful art auction and we get to salute two true patrons of the arts in the community," said Ackermann.  "It will be a fun evening and all are invited.”

Scheduled to happen during the event are an art auction, a lavish cocktail buffet and a Broadway Cabaret featuring two renowned artists from Bravo Alliance of the Performing Arts.  Brian Ernstes, a powerful tenor with a compelling stage presence and David Maiullo, a pianist of sentiment, discretion and style will take to the stage and honor the two community leaders who have made a significant contribution to the arts in Livingston.

The Arts Council is the umbrella group of the visual & performing arts groups in Livingston, with the mission of coordinating & supporting its member organizations (Livingston Arts Association, Livingston Camera Club, Livingston Community Players, Children's Theatre of Livingston, Livingston Symphony Orchestra, NJ Ballet Co., Riker Hill Art Park, Bravo Alliance of Performing Arts, Essex Summer Players and the Livingston Public Library) as well as encouraging talented artists by awarding scholarships.

An ad journal is being published for the gala in support of the honorees.  Tickets are on sale now by calling Martha Ackermann 973-535-9679 or Vivian Olshen 973-992-1950 or by sending an email to ctlonthestage@aol.com.
