What's Happening in West Orange Synagogues?

This week's focus returns to the Lubavitch Center of Essex County.

At the Lubavitch Center we had an amazing High Holiday season starting with a renovation that opened up space in the Shul.

We were able to comfortably sit close to 180 people for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

Sukkos was fantastic, the first two days of holiday we enjoyed a Sukkah Hop around town, and on Saturday night, Oct. 6, we took a bus to Crown Heights where we danced in the streets to live music celebrating the festival of our joy.

Simchas Torah was great. We enjoyed a delicious dinner buffet and we danced around the bima with the Torahs late into the night.

As we close out the holiday season with the completion of the Torah and immediately begin reading it anew, let us carry over the inspiration from the High Holidays to the rest of the year with our commitment to study the Torah, and we can do so through two fantastic upcoming programs.

Yeshiva Night begins next Tuesday, Oct. 16. Come study from an array of different subjects with students from the Rabbinical College of America. This is a unique opportunity to learn in a Yeshiva-style setting. The program runs every Tuesday evening from 8-9 p.m.

On Oct. 29, the highly anticipated fall course of the Jewish Learning Institute entitled “The Kabbalah of You” will begin.

This six-week program meets Monday nights from 7:30-9 and will be a journey of discovery, in which we will ask — and answer — the most fundamental question of all: Who is the mysterious being at the heart of what it is to be…you? The same Kabbalah that leads us up and beyond the highest heavens also leads deep within to explore the divine mystery of your soul.
