What's Happening in West Orange Synagogues?

This week's focus returns to B'nai Shalom, 300 Pleasant Valley Way.

In addition to our active calendar of programs and events, we are proud to announce to exciting developments this month at B'nai Shalom.

Hagit Yaso Benefit Concert:

B'nai Shalom is thrilled to welcome the stunning Israeli singer Hagit Yaso to a one-night only concert on Saturday Jan. 12, at 7:30 p.m. to support, in part, our Jewish National Fund water reclamation program in Kiryat Yovel, Jerusalem.

Yaso is absolutely amazing to hear.  Born of Ethiopian Jews in Sederot, she was raised amidst the fear and joy of that border town near Gaza.  Happy, beautiful and talented, Yaso sings in four languages and was the overwhelming victor in Israel's Kochav Nolad - American Idol style - television show last year.  Her arrival is sponsored by the Jewish National Fund, and donor sponsorships are available to meet with her in person following the show.

You can watch her youtube spots and find more information here: http://www.bnaishalom.net/Flyers/HagitYaso.pdf

It is going to be an unforgettable night for all who come, and space is limited.

New Jewish Cub Scout Pack 365 Is Open To All
B'nai Shalom is excited to announce a new Shomer Shabbat, Shomer Kashrut Cub Scout Pack in West Orange.  Jewish Scouting is a time-honored program of character and leadership training for our boys of all backgrounds and skill levels. Boys learn outdoor skills, character values, and citizenship all within a Jewish context.

Pack 365 (The number of "Positive Mitzvot" in the Torah), is open to all boys grades 1-5, and has a mix of day school and religious school families.  Shabbat is fully observed while camping, Kashrut (kosher laws) is observed with mainstream packaged hekhshers only (O/U, StarK, etc). The pack is open to all boys and adult volunteers of any family background, without prejudice, and is chartered by Congregation B'nai Shalom, 300 Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange NJ 07052.
