What's Happening in West Orange Synagogues?

This week's focus returns to Congregation Ahawas Achim B'nai Jacob & David on Pleasant Valley Way.

As the weather continues to be hot and everyone is trying to stay cool, we are enjoying what is left of the summer as we continue to keep busy here at Ahawas Achim B’nai Jacob & David with all of our exciting and educational programs.

Our Youth department continues to be a hit over the summer, even though were on a modified summer schedule. We are looking forward to all of our friends who will soon be returning from camp! We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new Youth Directors, who we know will do an outstanding job.

Camp Shemesh started out with a bang and has continued to be a huge hit amongst the campers and parents. The children continue each and every day to enjoy all of the great activities that were planned by our amazing camp director, Sura Rozenberg. As camp is getting ready to close up shop, the children are finishing up their summer theme of the world’s creation and are now working on Shabbat, creating beautiful projects that they will take home and get to enjoy all year long. The building has been filled with laughing and singing and they will surely be missed.

Our Sisterhood hosted their end of the summer party. What a great night that was!!! Our Annual Jazz Night was morphed into a casual night of classic rock! There was a great turn out of community members who enjoyed live music with special guest musicians, dairy munchies and drinks.

Together on Tuesday, is hard at work preparing for the new and exciting upcoming year of programs and events. During the year the program meets every Tuesday. The programs are social, intellectual and educational.  Knowledgeable speakers on Judaism, current events, politics and the arts are invited. One needn't be a member of the congregation in order to participate.  For more information about our summer schedule of any other information contact Seniors Coordinator, Debbie Druce at 973-736-1407 x240 or email her at, srstot@gmail.com.
