Howl-O-Ween, Open Mic Night Top the Week Ahead in West Orange

WOHS Drama Club will present Neil Simon's 1991 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Drama "Lost in Yonkers"

Come to perform or just enjoy the great food and open mikers!!  All are welcome!!  The event is free,  but please plan to eat something.  An accompanist is provided as well as a cd player if you need it.

West Orange High School Presents Neil Simon's "Lost in Yonkers"

West Orange High School Drama Club will present Neil Simon’s 1991 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Drama “Lost in Yonkers” .  Called the best play the award-winning comic playwright has ever written, “Lost in Yonkers” received numerous accolades including the 1991 Drama Desk Award for Best New Play and the 1991 Tony Award for Best Play.  The coming-of-age tale is about Bella, a 35-year old mentally challenged sweet, young woman living at home with her stern mother.  Comedy ensues when her n’er do well brother, Eddie, leaves his two young sons on the mother’s doorstep and the boys are left to contend with Grandma, a frightfully intimidating immigrant, Bella and her secret romance with an usher at the local movie house, and Louie, their small-time hoodlum uncle, in this strange new world called Yonkers.  Tickets are available online at www.seatyourself.biz/wohstheater or by calling 973.669.5301, ext.  #31450.  Advance purchase tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students; $10 at the door.

HOWL-O-WEEN
Turtle Back Zoo, 560 Northfield Avenue, West Orange
Wednesday     4 to 9 p.m.
Celebrate Howl-o-ween at Turtle Back Zoo as the zoo will be open from 4-9pm for safe trick or treating. Come in costume and ride the "spooky train" (weather permitting) or enjoy the magical talents of master magician Joe Fisher. Event admission is $5 for all ages (as always under 2 is free). Discounted admission rate of $3 per person with valid Zoological Society membership! Israeli Art Expo

B’nai Shalom will host a celebration of Israeli culture from Saturday evening, October 27 through Wednesday, October 31. Highlights include an Israel Art Expo with artist Moshe Bar Kocva, a concert of music by American Jewish composers, activities for children and a discussion with Gil Hoffman, JNF presenter and chief political correspondent for The Jerusalem Post.  The Israel Arts Expo is free of charge and open to everyone.    Click here for schedule.

Jazz Vespers

The event combines the age-old tradition of evening meditation with the unique musical language of jazz.  It includes contemporary prose, poetry and sometimes even a joke or two, and some truly outstanding jazz music performed by an amazing group of internationally recognized jazz musicians.   November's Jazz Vespers will be led by Pastor Todd, and we will welcome back band leader Dave Rimelis on guitar and violin, Matt King on keyboard, Dave Longworth on drums, and our featured musician Andrea Brachfeld on flute.  We hope to see you there!
