West Orange Elks Will Lay Wreaths at Arlington

Local organization participates in Wreaths Across America.

 

Members of the which just celebrated its 80th year, will travel to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC to participate in Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, Dec. 15.

A non-profit organization founded in 1992, Wreaths Across America helps to continue and expand the annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery as well as at veterans’ cemeteries and other locations nationwide. For more information, visit the website

The WO Elks raised over $2,500 to pay for 150 wreaths and to fund the trip for eight members, all of whom are West Orange residents, said spokeswoman Colleen Blasi. On Wreaths Across America Day, the members will place wreaths on gravestones at Arlington and a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
