Week in Review: Lost in Yonkers at West Orange HS, Council Member Arrested DWI, Jitney Resumes on Modified Schedule

A look at the top stories on West Orange Patch this past week.

Lost In Yonkers Performed at West Orange High School
The West Orange High School Drama Club presented the Neil Simon classic Lost in Yonkers this past week at the WOHS auditorium. The hilarious performances were filled with sheer laughter and fun entertainment.

Victor Cirilo Charged With DWI
A West Orange council member, Victor Cirilo, was arrested in Verona and charged with drunken driving and two other charges, Verona Police Chief Douglas Huber said.  Cirilo also faces careless driving and failure to keep right charges and was issued a summons to appear in Verona Municipal Court on Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Wilshire Grand Hotel A Respite for Local Families
The Wilshire Grand Hotel in West Orange has opened their doors to the victims of Hurricane Sandy who lost their homes from the devastating storm that hit New Jersey on Oct. 29. The hotel is currently housing eight families that lost their homes from Hurricane Sandy and has set up a relief for families that are still without power.

Township Hosts Sandy Donation Drive
Mayor Robert D. Parisi and the township of West Orange hosted a "Hurricane Sandy Donation Drive" at the Liberty Middle School, 1 Kelly Dr. on Thursday, Nov. 15. Parisi decided that the best way to show appreciation for the police, firefighters, employees of the Department of Public Works and Town Hall employees -- as well as to reach out to the larger community -- was to combine efforts and host the donation drive. 

West Orange Jitney to Resumed with a Modified Schedule
For the first time since Hurricane Sandy hit, the West Orange jitney is back in service. The service may be modified in the upcoming days to coincide with the modified train schedule.
