MLK Day Celebration to Honor West Orange Residents

Township residents will be honored at the annual celebration for mirroring Dr. King's work through volunteerism and their professional lives.

The West Orange Human Relations Commission will be honoring West Orange residents at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration on Jan. 20. The celebration will be held at The Life Christian Church located at 747 Northfield Ave. from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

The residents being honored include; Edgar and Elaine Bury, Dr. Dawn Christian and Rudolf Raines; Deiredra Oliver; and Dr. Karien Ziegler. The residents are being recognized for their volunteer or professional work embrace the spirit, dreams and dedication of Dr. King.

The guest speaker for the event will be Dr. Michael Reynolds.  Dr. Reynolds is the Affiliated Professor of Practical Theology and the Affiliated Professor of Sociology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. He also serves as the Associate Dean of the Chicago Campus of Trinity International University, and Chaplain for the Dolton Police Department in Illinois.

The event will include inspirational music from West Orange students and members of the community. Refreshments and entertainment will also be provided.
