Pals May be Gone, But Its Cuisine Lives On

Restaurant partnering with Roseland deli to offer 'Pals Famous and Original Foods.'

Good news for those still mourning the loss of Pals Cabin: starting Monday, some of the landmark restaurant’s most popular items will be offered at a Roseland gourmet deli.

“Pals Famous and Original Foods,” including cream of mushroom soup, French onion soup, the Redwood Wrap, foot-long hot dogs and hot turkey and roast beef sandwiches, go on the menu at Fairchilds Market, 171 Eagle Rock Ave. in Roseland.

Fairchilds, which is also a wine shop and gift store, serves breakfast and lunch, but plans to include dinner service soon following its partnership with Pals, the business announced through its Facebook page.

But citing high overhead costs, the family that for generations owned the property with the distinctive rustic decor decided to close the restaurant last month. The equipment, furnishings and other memorabilia were auctioned off.
