Essex County to Develop South Mountain Playground

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. (third from right) announced that work is underway to develop a children's playground at the Orange Reservoir in the Essex County South Mountain Recreation Complex on Thursday.

The addition of the playground will provide visitors with another opportunity to enjoy the picturesque landscape and promote wellness. It is the latest project that Essex County is conducting in partnership with the City of Orange to maximize the use of the Orange Reservoir property.

Displaying an artist's rendering of the playground with the County Executive is (from left) West Orange Councilman Victor Cirilo; Christopher Mobley, who was representing Orange Mayor Dwayne Warren; Mike Piga from French and Parrello which designed the playground; Freeholder Vice President Patricia Sebold; Essex County Deputy Chief of Staff William Payne; West Orange Council President Susan McCartney; and Richard Vreeland and John Savage from Beaver Electric, which is performing the construction.
