The BOE Should to Provide Imporant Information

BOE - Not Getting Information Out

The agenda for the BOE for Monday Evening January 14, 2012 is posted at www.woboe.org.   The agenda states "Recommend approval of the negotiated contractual settlement with the West Orange Education Association (WOEA) for the period 2012-2015 (Att. #1)"  However not attachment is noted or found. The contract will be the driving force behind the school budget for the next three years.  It will have a profound impact on the the governance and operations of the schools for the next three years.  However, the public can't debate it in a meaningful way, we can't talk about it with the school board members, and we can't lobby the school board one way or the other in a meaningful way because the information is not made public.  These are public schools and the public should be able to have a say in the running of the schools.  So I find this very problematic. Our BOE is using Double Speak as a standard means of communication with the public and would make George Orwell proud.  I would suggest tabling the approval of the contract again and making things truly public before the vote.  Once the contrat is voted on debat is pointless. Board members should please spare the citizen of West Orange meaningless talk about being transparent.  Board members kindly be honest and say: "we are the anointed ones: the public has no say and no input we will pass any thing we want."
