BOE - This Monday

BOE - BIG CONTRACT NEED TO PAY ATTENTION

The West Orange Board of Education has issues with transparency and providing detail so the citizens can know what is going on in timely clear and honest way. The meeting is scheduled for 8:00 PM at Redwood School on Monday, November 19, 2012 the agenda as posted on the web at www.wboe.org simply states “Recommend approval of the negotiated contractual settlement with local 68 bargaining association for the years 2011-2015.” This contract with our teacher is the biggest driver of our property taxes.  The lack of advance details is insulting. I have a lot of unanswered questions on it.  It would be helpful if the BOE could respect us taxpayers and citizen by providing details.  I am going to show up with many questions as not only does this drive taxes but the rules by which our teacher teach are often part of this deal. I urge all citizens to show up with question as this is a big event for us and has big implication for the community. I also urge the BOE to table this post the contract on line and explain it to the public before it comes up for a vote. I also remind the elected members of the board of education that these are public schools and they should communicate details on this to the public in advance and in a timely way and not just jam a contract past us citizens.  Adam Kraemer
