Hike Washington Rock the Steep Way
We will walk mostly on old woods roads that take steep switchbacks up to Washington Rock. This is the steepest trail in South Mt. Reservation. An aerobic workout taken at a moderate pace, this is another way of getting to the most popular destination in the park. After the Rock, there is little elevation gain.
Meet at Locust Grove, up a short driveway opposite the Millburn RR station and First Aid Squad on Glen Ave.
No need to register; just come to the meeting point a little before the starting time. Steady rain automatically cancels a walk, intermittent showers do not.
More About South Mountain Reservation

Picnic areas dot the park and there are horseback riding trails. Additionally, there's a dog park with sections for large and small dogs.
One of the main access points to the park in Millburn is at the intersection of Glen Avenue and Lackawanna Place, with limited parking available inside the park.
