Now that Pesach is over and the weather is finally warming up we are continuing to work hard and plan exciting and educational programs for our members here are Congregation AABJ&D.  The AABJ&D Food Drive was a huge success. Our community stepped up and donated a ton of kosher food that was brought to the kosher food pantry in South Orange. The past month has been an extremely busy one for all of our congregants, here at Congregation AABJ&D. We have had many exciting and educational programs for each and every age group, ensuring that everyone had a fun-filled February. This was a jam-packed month for our Youth Department. MishMash (Mishmar on Motzei Shabbat) is our parent-child learning that takes place on three Saturday evenings a month throughout the winter. As the winter weather is getting colder we are doing as much to keep busy here at Congregation AABJ&D. We have had both educational and social events that have been a major hit! In response to Hurricane Sandy the members of our Shul joined together to do what they can to help the people who were affected the most. We collected toiletries, clothing and warm coats just to name a few of the things people who were left with nothing needed. We also took part in an OHEL Chanukah toy drive to collect toys for children and young adults who are less fortunate than we are. We are so proud of the …

Our summer was extremely busy and our members enjoyed all of our exciting and educational programs here at Congregation Ahawas Achim B’nai Jacob & David (AABJ&D). Congregation AABJ&D started off this year with a bang! Many people attended the Chagim here, making it a beautiful, spiritual and amazing way to start the New Year. Our services and programs were enjoyed by all who attended. In October we teamed up with Saint Barnabas Medical Center for an amazing and informative Breast Cancer program, “Breast Cancer in Jewish Women- Prevention, Detection, Treatment and Genetics.” Besides our quarterly blood drive, we took part in a bone marrow swab drive, trying to find a young mother, originally from West Orange, a bone marrow match. This is a special Shabbat for couples and families who are thinking about moving to a new community. The festival of Purim is celebrated every year on the 14th day of the Hebrew month of Adar. It commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in Ancient Persia from Haman's plot "to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews, young and old, infants and women, in a single day."
