It is clear the relationship with the superintendent was not managed well. One of they key things a board of education must do is manage the relationship with superintend of schools.School boards should hire a superintendent they trust. Let the superintendent do his or her job with out micro management.
The board should set policies, objectives, and budget for the schools work with in. They provide oversight to make sure the policies and budgets are being followed and the objective are being worked towards and met. At the end of the contract term the board should decide to renew or not renew the superintendent’s contract based on performance. Getting rid of a superintendent in mid contract should only occur if something goes wrong to such a magnitude the superintendent could not longer effective lead. In my view that was not the case with Dr. Cavanna. This school board had trust issues with the Dr Cavanna shortly after they hired him. They tried to micro manage him and then we had to go thru the mess of a paid suspension and sudden change in school leadership. The failure of school board is one of the key reasons why we a change in the make up of school board.
I and Joe Sorbino would know how to manage this relationship between the board and the superintendent of schools. We could provide over site without micro management.
Please consider this when voting on November 6, 2012.

Mr. Kraemer,
With all due respect, you have no idea what you are talking about.

If you want to be taken seriously as a candidate try using a simple spell check or grammar check. How can voters expect to trust you to manage much more important and critical issues when you do not take the time to proof read your work to ensure it is clear, concise and well-written?
For those of you who use this website to stay in tune with key items going on in town, I certainly appreciate your effort to post your thoughts but it would be nice to see a focus on presenting yourself and your campaign in a more positive light.

Amen. I'm supposed to vote for someone for the Board of Education who can't write three grammatically-correct paragraphs? It's bad enough "education" is misspelled in the hyperlink for the story.

Grammar and spelling aside, I'm not clear on what you are proposing here. I want more information about this, definitely, but there may be employment and privacy laws involved here that prevent the BOE from releasing more info. Either way, this was managed poorly.
As for your superintendent contract proposal, it's irresponsible to frequently change superintendents or have their renewal completely dependent on performance. That won't attract the best talent.
