South Orange Public Library hosts the 32nd annual Black Maria Film Festival at the South Orange Public Library on Tuesday evening, April 16, at 7 p.m. The program will consist of award-winning works selected from this year’s festival by some of the nation’s most prominent cutting-edge filmmakers, including the wonderful works of local filmmakers, Gerard Amsellem, Phil Weisman, and Emily Hubley. Popular game show that offers prizes ranging from cash to cars is coming to NJPAC in May.
One of the most popular game shows in the nation is coming to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in a few months. The Price is Right, Live!, which allows contestants to compete for vacations, cash, appliances and cars by playing games of chance like Plinko, Cliffhangers and the Big Wheel, will be broadcast from the center May 26. West Orange resident's “I Got Somethin’ to Tell You" to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.
West Orange resident Whoopi Goldberg will premiere her "passion project" April 20 at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, the festival recently released. Goldberg's documentary, “I Got Somethin’ to Tell You," gives a look into Moms Mabley's influence and work in stand-up comedy, according to the Tribeca Film Festival website. She will also join panelists, Adrian Grenier ("Entourage"), Ellen Page and feminist Gloria Steinem in a talk series during the festival, "Tribeca Talks: After the Movie," Playbill.com reports.

To mark the 80th birthday of Philip Roth, the famed Newark novelist whose upbringing in Weequahic serves as the backdrop to many of his works, the Newark Public Library has launched an exhibition of photos taken throughout his life. “Philip Roth: An Exhibit of Photos from a Lifetime” will be in view through Aug. 31 on the second-floor gallery of the main branch at 5 Washington St. The exhibit is free and open during regular library hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 9 am to 5:30 pm; and Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. This exhibit is comprised of photographs from Roth’s own collections, most never before seen by the public, along with images from the Library’s Charles F.
