Township Council OKs Cash for Skatepark

Futsal court also will get upgrade

West Orange council unanimously voted Tuesday to appropriate $117,300 and authorize the issuance of $111,435 in bonds to upgrade a futsal court and begin installation of a township skatepark.

The 62-foot-by-85-foot futsal court in Colgate Park will border Seward Street, Ridge Avenue and Franklin Avenue. The skatepark will be integrated into Degnan Memorial Park on Pleasant Valley Way. Futsal is a form of soccer that is played on a smaller, enclosed surface.

Construction and engineering for the projects will be done by the township and are slated to begin by the end of September, according to West Orange officials.
