A tornado watch is in effect for northern New Jersey from Friday evening through 1 a.m. Saturday.
New Jersey counties affected by the tornado watch include Bergen, Morris, Union, Essex, Passaic, Warren, Husdon and Sussex.
A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes in and close to the watch area.
The watch also includes areas of New York City and Connecticut.
