Police: Pair Robs Resident at Gunpoint For $3, Phone

This was the second armed robbery reported Monday night in West Orange.

A West Orange man was robbed a gunpoint by two men Monday night while walking home on South Valley Road, police said Tuesday.

According to Sgt. Robert Hartman, the West Orange man was walking on South Valley Road, heading toward South Orange, when two men approached him from Walker Road just before 11 p.m.

One of the men pulled a silver handgun and robbed the resident of his Samsung Galaxy and $3 in cash, Hartman said. The pair then took off heading north on South Valley Road.

The resident described the man with the gun as a 5-foot-7 black man in his mid-20s wearing a white T-shirt. The resident could not describe the second man, the report stated. 

This was the second armed robbery incident Monday night and the 10th armed robbery this year.

The other incident Monday happened at 9:15 p.m. when a gas station near Essex Green Shopping Center was robbed at gunpoint for $50.
