Police Blotter: Stolen Car, Ransacked Vehicles, Burglarized Home on Thanksgiving

A car was stolen Saturday afternoon from a parking lot on Old Short Hills Road, officials said. The owner of the 2011 Nissan said he left his car doors locked when he parked his vehicle.

Almost $5,000 worth of electronic equipment was taken from a home on Rock Spring Road after a door was left unlocked, police said. According to the incident report, a laptop, iPad, e-reader, two cameras, a camera case and a gym bag were stolen last Tuesday night. Police said the suspect(s) entered the residence through an unlocked door, taking items from the dining room, kitchen and master bedroom.

A home owner on Belgrade Terrace in West Orange told police she woke up on Thanksgiving to find that her home had been burglarized. According to the incident report, the owner found her front door open and several items missing including her wallet, two jackets and $100 cash. Police said the suspect(s) likely entered through a window and left through the front door.

Police said a 2000 Jeep was ransacked last Thursday night while parked with the doors locked on Collamore Terrace. The owner of the car said she saw the shadow of an individual running in her front yard and then heard her car alarm go off. According to the incident report, nothing was taken from the car and there was no damage to the car doors.

More than $200 worth of items and money were taken from a car parked curbside along Condit Terrace in West Orange last Tuesday night, according to officials. The owner of the 2008 Infiniti G8 told police he found both the passenger side and driver side windows of his car halfway down with damage to the driver's side door lock. Police said the car was ransacked and stripped of a wallet, cash, law documents and paperwork.

A car parked on Orange Place in West Orange was broken into between Nov. 13 and 14, according to police. They said a $240 GPS, a $300 iPod Touch and coins were taken from the 2011 Nissan Altima.

A 2000 Audi was stolen while parked on Liberty Street in West Orange last week, police said. The owner of the car told police she wasn't sure whether she left the vehicle locked or unlocked.
