Police Blotter: Multiple Drug-Related Arrests, Stolen Cars

A man was arrested Sunday afternoon for drug possession, police said. Jamar Rashawn Woods was carrying 35 bags of marijuana and drug paraphernalia while driving on Prospect Avenue, the incident report said. Police received an anonymous call from a woman that said she saw a man wielding a handgun on Prospect Avenue. Woods was a passenger in a a 2007 Acura traveling over the speed limit, when police pulled him over. He told police he was carrying a handgun lighter. Woods was charged with intent to distribute, possession of paraphernalia and possession of drugs. He was released pending a April 12 court date. The driver was charged with a careless driving summons and released.
A car was allegedly stolen while parked on Kayser Lane on March 26, authorities said. The passenger side window was smashed with an unknown object to gain entry to the car, police said. A GPS worth $200 and other items worth more than $500 were taken with the 2002 Acura, according to the incident report.
Two men were arrested on Wellington Avenue, one for an outstanding warrant out of West Orange and another for drug possession, police said. According to the incident report, police saw Jude Jean-Louis, who they recognized as having recently been cited for driving with a suspended license, pick up another man while stopped at a stop sign on Freeman Street and Valley Road. Police pulled the 1995 Nissan over and smelled marijuana inside the car. Jean-Louis was arrested for possession off drugs and Taurean Elliott was taken into custody for outstanding warrants. Jean-Louis was released on his own recognizance pending an April 5 court date. Elliott was held in lieu of $800 bail.
Two people were arrested after they were found with heroin and drug paraphernalia on Route 280 in West Orange, police said. Jessica Marie Mugno and Charles Ryan Graham were pulled over after police noticed they were driving in and out of their marked lane on Route 280. Q-tips, hypodermic needles and a spoon were in the car and Graham turned over 10 folds of heroin, police said. Both were released on their own recognizance.
Two cars were allegedly broken into on March 27 while parked on Westminster Terrace, police said. A pair of sunglasses worth $150 were taken from an unlocked 2010 Mazda, according to the report. Actor(s) gained entry to the 2011 Infinity with a screwdriver but did not take anything.
A car was allegedly stolen while parked and left unlocked on Cullen Drive in West Orange last Wednesday, police said. The 2006 Infinity contained more than $8,000 of audio equipment and computer software, they said.
Another car on Cullen Drive was allegedly burglarized last week, police said. The owner of the 2010 Lexus told police his driver side door lock was damaged but that nothing was taken from the car.
A car parked on Eagle Rock Avenue was allegedly burglarized Friday afternoon, police said. The owner of the 2011 Nissan told police a brief case valued at $600 and various personal documents were taken from the car. She said she was not sure if her car was left unlocked, according to the police report.
