Misty's Murder Suspect Arrested in Texas
Nolvin Garcia, a suspect in the shooting and murder at Misty's Bar on Aug. 6, was arrested by US Border Patrol Agents Sunday.
Authorities made an arrest this week in connection with the shooting and murder that occurred behind a West Orange bar earlier this month.
Nolvin Garcia, 24, or Orange, was arrested Sunday night in Laredo, Texas, by US Border Patrol Agents, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Garcia is wanted in connection with the murder of Jacques Nelson, 32, of Orange.
Nelson, a father of four, was working as a bouncer at Misty’s Restaurant and Bar, at 277 Main St., on Aug. 6. At around 2 a.m. that morning, Nelson was attempting to break up a fight between two patrons in the parking lot behind the bar when Garcia allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Nelson in the chest.
Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Garcia will reportedly be held in Texas pending an extradition to New Jersey, according to the ECPO. Bail for Garcia is set at $750,000.
The ECPO issued a warrant for Garcia’s arrest two days after the murder.
The joint investigation was conducted by the Essex County Major Crimes Task Force and the West Orange Police Department.

It's truly a testament to the professionalism of the law enforcement community (both locally and nationally) that this perpetrator was identified and captured within two weeks of the crime.

It was easy, he was the only illegal trying to sneak back across the boarder!

Cute but, grabbing one guy out of 300,000,000 is akin to picking a needle out of a haystack and constitutes good police work by all involved.

It'll be interesting to know how they got him, there must have been quite a manhunt. Brings up images from Coen Brothers movie No Country for Old Men. If you missed it and like hanging on high tension wires check it out.

I agree, great police work by all involved. I'm curious about the details of the capture. If he was fleeing from the US into Mexico, do they automatically check everyone crossing the border? I crossed into Mexico at the Tiajuana border about 9 years ago and literally just walked in. No questions asked, and nobody blinked an eye. It was only on my way back into the US that I had to pass through customs.

@Concerned Citizen Yes, it does matter how they caught him! That's how we learn about what works and what doesn't. It's great that he was caught, nobody is denying that fact at all. Some just wonder how they caught him. Was he trying to escape the U.S.? Did he commit a crime that caught attention? Did someone happen to recognize him? There are so many possibilities.....

He was trying to climb or jump the wall or fence U.S has at the border and he was caught along with a group of people that im sure were running away from crime too.. im not aware of how many cops were involve in this but im thinking 15 or 20 cops.. border patrol didnt know he was wanted for murder until they booked him n ran his finger prints.. now hes on his way back to Jersey for questions because appearently it wasnt just him n cops havent found the gun...
