West Orange duo arrested after trespassing in parking lot of West Orange High School last week.

West Orange police say the arrest of two 23-year-old West Orange men who were caught trespassing at West Orange High School last week may prove more valuable than just simple trespassing charges.

Justin Chase and Lance Ogunwale were arrested for trespassing while walking through a parking lot at the high school around 4:30 a.m., police said.

When police searched Chase and Ogunwale, the officers found items stolen from 10 cars in town.

Items found that police were able to confirm as stolen included:

  • Three GPS units and $70 from four cars on Buckingham Road
  • Three GPS units and bottles of prescription medicine from three cars on Mount Vernon Avenue.
  • Prescription medicine from a car on Glenside Drive.
  • A wallet from a car on Elmwood Avenue.
  • A GPS from a car on Mount Pleasant Avenue.

Police also recovered the following items, but the owners couldn't be found:

  • Four GPS units
  • Four wrist watches
  • Digital camera
  • $290 in cash and $44.33 in change
  • Five cellular phones
  • Bottle of perfume
  • Three pairs of sunglasses and one pair of prescription glasses
  • Visor Bluetooth
  • 10 different cellphone chargers
  • Gloves
  • An earring
  • Two earpieces
  • Flashlight
  • Black change purse
  • Bottle opener

Chase and Ogunwale were charged with trespassing, conspiracy, 10 counts of burglary, eight counts of theft and three counts of possession. Both were given a court date of Thursday, Feb. 28. Bail was set at $100,000 with no 10 percent option.

The investigation is continuing.

I've been saying it all along. "it's not only the outsiders that do the crime, it's our residents also". How times have changed...

To quote a Seinfeld episode, who steals prescription glasses??? I guess the frames can be sold. . . On another note, they did all that in one night?? glad they caught the crooks.

10 years hard labor without parole plus full restitution to the victims would send a strong message.

Great!
I am happy 2 more criminals have been arrested in West Orange and taken off our streets.
Anyone here know these men?
Their Families?
Have they been in trouble before?
Did they have any Outstanding warrants?

Now the police have done their job. It's up to the courts and judges to stop being so lenient and give these guys some hard time. That is the major problem. They are caught and released without a true punishment.

We as residents must also keep an eye on these guys if they are released. And report suspicious activities or people around West Orange to police immediately.
Is there any mugshots?
What streets did they live on?
Does anyone know the family?
Did they go to west orange high school?

Excellent suggestion Tom. They should post their residents every time they get someone that live in town. That will give us more eyes and ears.

I won't feel safe until the town installs those cameras, and the police can get back to Facebooking and drinking coffee from their patrol cars.
