McKeon and West Orange Honor Local Entrepreneur Mark Scotland
Scotland's Garage Start Up Recognized as Innovative Leader in Automotive Diagnostics
West Orange resident and small business owner Mark Scotland was the guest of honor at West Orange Town Hall when he received proclamations from both the town and the state for his innovative leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.
Scotland was honored for developing his West Orange business, PH2 Solutions, Inc., from a four person "garage start up" in 2004 into an innovative and industry leader in the automotive emission diagnostics segment.
Under Scotland's stewardship, his company produced the award winning "PH2 Validator," a product which enables auto repair technicians a more efficient means of diagnosing "check engine light" and drivability related issues.
In addition to the proclamations, Scotland and PH2 Solutions were recently awarded by both Motor Magazine and SEMA, Specialty Equipment Market Association, for the PH2 Validator as the best new tool.
State Assenblyman John F. McKeon and West Orange Councilman Susan McCartney presented the state and township proclamations respectively last Thursday.
"You are living up to the West Orange tag line--where invention lives," stated McCartney, recalling West Orange's original innovator, Thomas Edison.
McKeon, a West Orange resident and the former mayor, said he was happy to give the state proclamation to Scotland. "We have known each other for years. We have been neighbors and our children grew up together," McKeon stated.
Scotland thanked the officials for the honor and accepted it on behalf of his entire team at Ph2 Solutions. 'When you are running a small business and struggling to survive, you sometimes overlook some of your milestones," Scotland stated, noting PH2 solutions holds several patents and is the "first and only company doing what they are doing" in the automotive emissions area.
