Employee Robbed at Gunpoint on Valley Road

Police are searching for two men involved in armed robbery at K & R Bread Distibutors in West Orange.

West Orange police are investigating a Friday afternoon-armed robbery at a Valley Road business.

In the Feb. 15 incident, an employee of K & R Distributors, located at 438-440 Valley Road, said two men wearing all black clothes and black ski masks approached him as he was returning a bread truck to the back of the building after completing a delivery around 3:20 p.m.

One of the men then allegedly stuck what is believed to be a handgun against the employee’s back and stole the employee’s wallet, valued at $450, and $600 in cash from the employee’s pockets.

The men then fled onto Cary Street towards Orange, police said.

I live off Valley Rd. too. What's the problem with low income housing here? Where would you suggest we put those in need of housing?

Raul,

I didn't know that it was up to west Orange to "put" people anywhere.

People are getting robbed in every West Orange neighborhood. Don't hate on the Valley.

Nope. Nobody has been robbed in my neighborhood. At least not in the 5+ years I've lived in it.

What's a reliable news source where one can verify these supposed robberies?

You might begin by calling the WOPD 973-325-4000.

Are you suggesting that Patch makes this stuff up for fun?

Steven, it's insulting for you to suggest that low-income housing will be the source of crime and problems for our neighborhood and our town. There have been plenty of robberies and crimes "Up the Hill." And it is in fact, up to governments to care for their people.

It is disappointing and embarrassing to hear of such crimes in my Town.
I ask my fellow residents to be vigilant in reporting to Police suspicious people and activities.
Please Be preemptive and call police and report all quality of life issues...
Remember to try and have a description of the clothing and features of people.
The information can be very helpful to Police.
Be safe

I am not suggesting Patch makes stuff up. I am questioning the comments made by some regarding crime in West Orange. If one says robberies are happening in every neighborhood, I'd like to know about them. I feel safe in mine & have a hard time believing this allegation.

Dear Kay,

Glad you feel secure in your home....There IS crime period! If God forbid,
you were a victum of a crime, your feelings would change quickly. Just reality. Hoping it never happens is not realistic. Sorry!

@KayB - crime is not happening in every neighborhood. Don't believe the generalized, blanket statements that people make. As I mentioned above, there have certainly been no robberies in my neighborhood. Could it happen? Sure. Is it happening? No. People who live in the neighborhoods where the robberies are taking place don't want to feel picked on, so they make it seem that crime is everywhere.

Last night house on the corner of Oakridge Rd. and Mitchell Ave. was robbed in the middle of the night while people were sleeping! I'm getting really tired of this nonsense and scumbags that think, it is ok, to come to your home and take what they want. Go and get freaking jobs freaks!!!! No one is making stuff up here dear KayB. @Raul Ausa please tell me, that you are kidding about Valley! If that area is safe to live, how come I always hear from school parents and different neighbors, that they will never take a walk there with their children, because they don't feel safe! That area really needs serious makeover.... Calling Valley Arts District is not going to bring people there, just to see 4 galleries and one Luna stage. You want changes there, then do something drastic!!!!!!!! Bring Trader Joes, Starbucks, Cups Frozen Yogurt, Messy Artist for children, some great cupcake place and bring them all at the same time!!! Then you will get something going there.... Me and my neighbors will gladly take a walk there when this happens.... Meanwhile the Pecorella Pizza is out of business and the Dinner in the Valley once again has new people running it.... Last person with wonderful food last it only 8 months in that Dinner!!! Who are we kidding here and what kind of Art District is that?!
