Leaf Collection Program Starts in Town

You can purchase brown, biodegradable bags at town hall, Public Works building, and Recycling Center.

While tree leaves look nice in the fall splashed with all sorts of colors, they can become a nuisance when they start to pile up on your yard.

So what to do with all those leaves? Fortunately, the township Fall Leave Collection program has begun, and loose leaf collection will begin Oct. 14.

See collection schedule below. You can find your street listing in the PDF Gallery.

Bagged leaves will be collected through Dec. 31. Leaves may only be placed in brown, biodegradable paper bags, and materials other than leaves will not be taken.

Leaf bags can be purchased at town hall, 66 Main St.; the Public Works building, at 25 Lakeside Ave.; and the Recycling Center, 590 Mt. Pleasant Ave. The cost of five bags is $2.

The loose leaf collection will run from Oct. 14 through Dec. 9. Place leaves along the curb and gutter, but no more than seven days prior to their scheduled collection. Keep in mind, leaves may not be placed within 10 feet of a drainage inlet.

For more information, call Public Works at (973) 325-4067 or go to www.westorange.org.

All public streets will be categorized by a section code which will correspond to the schedule below.  A list of streets is attached to this article as a PDF.

Last year's collection really got delayed because of the October snowstorm cleanup. They didn't get to my street until January! Hopefully this year goes smoother.
