First Graders “Eat Green” for St. Patrick’s Day
For these kids, "eating green" means eating veggies and fruit
First Graders “Eat Green” for St. Patrick’s Day
Lisa Marx’s 1st grade Mount Pleasant Elementary School class got into the St. Patrick’s spirit by “eating green.” The class feasted on celery, broccoli, sugar snap peas, honey dew melon, green grapes and green apples. Many children tried some of these foods for the first time and loved them.
Prior to the feast, the class mom read them a book on healthy snacks. The children loved talking about their favorite vegetables and fruits.
Like most schools in the area, Mount Pleasant has a strict no peanut policy, and encourages students to bring healthy snacks for lunch and snack time. The school also requires that classes only have healthy snacks for birthday celebrations, class parties, and school-wide events.

Mrs. Marx is to be commended for the innovative and creative approach she used in teaching her students about the value of eating healthy, green fruits and vegetables. Great lesson.
