Fatal Crash on Northfield Avenue Still Under Investigation
Two-car accident left one dead in West Orange
The cause of the two-car collision on Northfield Avenue that killed one woman last week has not yet been determined, authorities said. Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, told Patch Monday that the incident remains under investigation.
Marouso Chiovaro, 36, of West Orange was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the crash on Sept. 20, officials said.
Chiovaro was driving a blue Toyota Camry and traveling east bound on Northfield Avenue in the area of Highwood Road when her car crossed over into the west bound lanes of traffic and was struck by a red Honda Pilot, said Carter. She said no charges have been filed in the case.
Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit and the West Orange Police are handling the investigation, according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray.
Chiovaro, a lifelong resident of West Orange is survived by her husband and three children. She was buried Saturday at Dangler Funeral Home in West Orange.
