Downed Wire on Old Short Hills Road Causes Power Outage

PSEG, police and fire on scene

A wire collapsed on Old Short Hills Road in West Orange around 4:30 p.m. Friday knocking out power to the area, officials said.

Fire and police arrived on scene but said PSEG crews were already working on the downed wire.

Fire officials on scene said PSEG crews in the area likely heard the "pop" of the wire and quickly got to work in the area. They said PSEG was addressing the issue to restore power.

Barnabas Health Center on Old Short Hills Road was not affected and still had power this afternoon.

McLoone's Boathouse Restaurant briefly lost power, according to employees with the restaurant. They said power was quickly restored around 7 p.m.

Anthony Puglisi, spokesman for the county, said Essex County's Turtle Back Zoo lost power this afternoon but did not know whether the outage was related to the downed wire. Puglisi said power has now been restored.
