Designers Highlight New Jersey Fashion Week Finale

Event focuses on local, global fashion

 

New Jersey's first "Fashion Week" culminated Tuesday at Pleasantdale Chateau on Eagle Rock Avenue in West Orange. Tuesday night's event featured both local and global designers. 8:42 p.m.: The fashion judges announced the winner of the show is Kahri Ann Kerr. The fashion show has ended. A video of the event will be posted soon. 

8:31 p.m.: Models are now walking with designs by Los Angeles designer Adolfo Sanchez. Sanchez said his designs were inspired by the shape of a hexagon. Watch it live: View here (stream ended).

8:22 p.m.: Thomas Lavone, of New Jersey, now has his models up on the runway. The models are dazzling with provocative sequins. The women stride back and forth with backless dresses and exotic makeovers. 

8:20 p.m.: The male models are on stage to the loud cheers of the audience. They are modeling New Jersey designer Darius B. Gibbs' clothing. See male models live: View here (stream ended).

8:08 p.m.: The clothing by Italian designer Veronica Spadaro is smooth and classy. Watch it live: View here (stream ended).

8 p.m.: Models are now walking down the runway with New York designer Kahri's line. The hairstylists from the show "Jerseylicious" did the hair. All the models have crazy spiky mohawks. The style is very edgy and rocker. 

7:55 p.m.: Now is Hawaiian designer DeCristiano Designs. Models are all trailing pieces of fabric that have the effect of a bird's wing. Against the white screen backdrop, the models look almost ethereal. 

7:41 p.m.: The first model has stepped on the runway. She is wearing a white outfit lined with black and a classy bun. The first models are wearing black and white. Designs by Elene Cassis of New York. A very sleek and classy look with simple colors and patterns. View video of models down the runway live: View here (stream ended).

7:35 p.m.: The show has begun. Donnella Tilery and Jack Panico, co-founders of the event, are speaking. Three judges will be evaluating the fashion designers. See live video: View here (stream ended).

7: 30 p.m.: It's a full house tonight. Seating is almost to capacity. The models are dressed and ready, some sporting funky mohawks backstage. 

Gatby Salon did the hair for designer Kahri Ann Kerr. The models are styled with crazy updos and mohawks. Tracy DiMarco from "Jerseylicious" said the show's finale is being filmed at tonight's event. 

It is minutes before showtime. 

7:10 p.m.: The Real Housewives have taken a front seat along with Anna Demidova from Dancing With the Stars. The entry way for the runway show is open only to press and celebrities. Guests are waiting at the door. 

7 p.m.: The venue is starting to get crowded. The models are still practicing up and down the runway as oldies music and some Spanish tunes blast from the speakers. The media has flood the end of the runway with lights, cameras and flash photography. 

Donnella Tilery, co-founder of the event, is busy smoothing out the last details before the show begins in 30 minutes. The seats are starting to fill.  

6:35 p.m.: Hundreds of guests are starting to arrive and pack the lobby. Some of the Real Housewives also have arrived and are taking photographs on the red carpet. Appetizers are going around as guests sip on wine and mixed drinks.

6:15 p.m.: Dancing With the Stars celebrity Anna Demidova just arrived. She said she's from Jersey and is excited to see the show tonight. 

6 p.m.: Models are beginning to practice on the runway, while designers are fitting last-minute models. The cast of "Jerseylicious" is busy getting ready for tonight's show. Los Angeles designer Adolfo Sanchez said he will exhibit 12 designs tonight, inspired by the shape of a hexagon. 

5:20 p.m.: Designers and models are lining up for make up in a back part of Pleasantdale Chateau. Two giant signs flank the entryway informing people that tonight's show will be broadcast on My Style's "Jerseylicious." Patch also will have periodic live broadcasts of the runway tonight. Videographers and photographers at the runway are equipped with mobile phones and mobile applications that allow them to catch live video and stream the show to you, the readers. View here. I checked all the pictures and my Men's collection has been credited to Thomas Lavone instead of my name....
