Codey Arena Featured in Super Bowl Commercial with Olympic Star
Apolo Ohno skated at Codey Arena in West Orange for Century 21 commercial
Local residents have more than one thing to be proud of after Sunday night's win by the Giants in the Super Bowl.
Essex County's Codey Arena was featured in several Century 21 Real Estate commercials with none other than Apolo Ohno, a highly decorated Olympic medalist and speed skater taking the ice.
Ohno arrived at the arena on Jan. 10 for a day of filming, county officials confirmed with Patch. From 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Century 21 rented out one of the rinks to shoot the commercials. The arena and the second rink remained open to the public.
Ohno took photos with the children that were in the arena and met with residents, officials said.
"We are happy that the Essex County Codey Arena was showcased in the Century 21 commercial because it raises awareness about the exciting recreational opportunities, and job opportunities we provide at our facilities," Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. told Patch.
In the commercials, Ohno can be seen speeding around the rink. Ohno is an eight-time medalist (two gold, two silver, four bronze) in the Winter Olympics.

The problem with this being a good PR move, is that nobody watching this commercial would ever know where it was filmed.

Scott..True, but people are seeing this After the fact, not during the game....Don't get me wrong, I think it's very cool too - it's just a shame that the millions watching the game didn't know...
