Church Celebrates the Chinese New Year

What's going on at local West Orange churches

United Presbyterian Church

middle-schoolers will join with other Presbyterian churches of western Essex County on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at Hobcaw Cafe in Verona. 

Hobcaw is run by the family of Roseland pastor Rev. Lauren MacArthur and serves breakfast, lunch and awesome desserts. The theme for this Sunday is Chinese New Year. Come make origami, do a Chinese puzzle game, and meet some new friends.

Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church

is pleased to announce the return of its Scrapbooking Fellowship. Next Saturday, Jan. 28, church member and expert scrapbooker Kerry Rapp will lead the scrapbooking group in the lower level of the church’s sanctuary building.

Newcomers are always welcomed and Rapp is happy to teach and coach anyone who would like to learn this enjoyable and relaxing craft in a fun and informative atmosphere.

The Church is also very pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for Songs for a New World, the inaugural show from Pleasant Valley Productions.  Pleasant Valley Productions is a community theatre team in residence at the church. 

The music from this show is phenomenal, so treat yourself and your family to this production, scheduled for two nights only, Friday, Mar. 9 and Saturday, Mar. 10, both shows beginning at 8 p.m. The Reverend Todd Shumpert, pastor of the church, and choir member Mitchell Olson, are featured performers in the production, so it is a must-see for the entire community. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased here.
