Armed Robbery on Pleasant Valley Way

Exxon gas station robbed of between $300 and $400.

A Pleasant Valley Way gas station attendant reported he was robbed of several hundred dollars at gunpoint on Wednesday evening, West Orange police said Thursday.

At 8:28 p.m., a white man holding a handgun ordered the Exxon gas station attendant at 972 Pleasant Valley Way to "hand over what he had on him," according to information released by West Orange Public Information Officer Jessica Glicker.

The suspect fled after the attendant turned over approximately $300 to $400 in cash. There were no injuries reported.

The suspect was described as a white man, approximately 6-feet tall and wearing a green-hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses and a hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Orange Police Department Detective Bureau at (973) 325-4020.

Their prices are very high, however they are listed on the sign. Anyone stopping there isn't getting ripped off. They can choose to drive up the hill and go to the other Exxon for way less.

As for being robbed, I've always felt that corner was a dark, not very visible area (easy target for robberies). Not sure if it's normal for an attendant to carry $300-400 cash on them though. That sounds kinda high. I wouldn't just to a conclusion that he faked a robbery. I was in a similar situation on a job in my early 20's. Robbed at gunpoint. Worked at a sub shop on a dark corner and was working alone that night. The really messed up part was that the owner was questioning whether I stoled the money and was just filing a false police report. It really pissed me off because he didn't know what it felt like with a guy standing in front of you with a gun demanding all the money. I couldn't lock the front door after he left cause I didn't have a key and had to wait for the police (hiding below the counter). I was scarred for my life that the dude was going to come back and shoot me. So I have to say that saying a statement like that is extremely insensitive!!! Have you ever been robbed Jazmine? Do you know the guy that said he was robbed? Just wondering.
