8 to 8 Barber Shop Brings School Supplies to Students

Elementary schools receive pencils, notebooks and more.

The following information is from the West Orange Public School District:

Gift giving season occurred early for teachers and students at Washington Elementary School and Hazel Elementary School in West Orange. Thanks to the clients of the 8 to 8 Barber Shop at the corner of Northfield and Valley roads, both schools received a great deal of school supplies to help their students’ academic work get underway.

“It was so great for them to think about us.  The school supplies will benefit a lot of students and we are making sure that everybody is getting something,” said Principal DeMaio at Washington. “It is such a wonderful gesture on their part.”

Jason Robinson, owner of the barber shop said his business has a strong commitment to community involvement and helping the community help itself. “Much of what we do is community-based, and our clients want to help the community too,” explained Robinson.

Over 50 people donated items, and Global Grease of West Orange was especially generous in the amount of donations contributed according to Robinson. Donations ranged from pencils and crayons, to backpacks and notebooks, even cash.

“Yes, we were absolutely happy to be the recipients of the materials,” exclaimed Principal Acevedo of Hazel Elementary.

This is great. It's the gift of giving and should be done not just during holidays. Residents are in need all year. I applaud 8 to 8 and all others who give back to their community. Charity starts at home.
